The youth form a big demographic when it comes to the number of the population. Any substantial impact hoping to be felt when it comes to fighting the COVID pandemic has to make sure the youth form a significant part of it. The youth easily influence one another when it comes to making decisions. This is because they have greater access to each other through technology especially by use of social media platforms. The youth have raised a few issues when it comes to the vaccination efforts being spearheaded by governments and the World Health Organization.
Some youths are yet to access COVID tests. This is because some countries lack the accepted PCR tests for COVID -19 testing. The COVID-19 pandemic has overwhelmed some healthcare sectors which is why they lack the COVID -19 testing kits. This problem has however been addressed by some healthcare institutions like Docsun Biomed. They have come up with non-invasive testing devices that anyone with access to an android device can use. One only has to download the Docsun mobile app, create an account, and take the COVID test whose results take about five minutes to be provided.
The youth lack trust in the vaccines available. They say that the rapid development of vaccines raises some questions. They question the safety of the vaccines as most youths feel that not enough clinical trials have been conducted on the population to fully appreciate the effects it might have on people. They also cite that governments have not yet fully educated the population on vaccines. Vaccine education is critical as they will be able to communicate the benefits of vaccines which will go a long way in promoting confidence to the youth population.
Another issue raised by the youth is the ability of the relevant governments to distribute the vaccines to all. This was raised by the youth in minority populations. These youths are a majority of whom are found in developing countries. The governments in their regions face challenges in the production, distribution, and deployment of vaccine vials. The youth feel that this puts them at a disadvantage which exposes them to a greater risk of death as compared to their counterparts where the healthcare is highly evolved and developed.
There has also been an increase in the unsubstantiated effects of taking the COVID vaccine. Some of these include the fact that the vaccine brings about infertility and blood clotting which leads to death. The majority of the youth are just about childbearing age and are not willing to take chances with things that may interfere with their fertility. The healthcare providers have however come out strongly to condemn this report saying there was no correlation between the COVID vaccine and the causes of infertility or blood clotting.
