What Are Your New Year Health Resolutions? – Docsun Computation MedLab. Here are some healthy eating habits you may try.
The basics of healthy eating
While some diets may not fall in line with this fact, we all need to take in the right amount of protein, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals in our diet to achieve a healthy body. You don’t need to drop down certain categories of food from your diet, instead try to replace them with healthier options from each of the following food category:
Proteins
Joy explains that proteins give you the energy your body requires to be active and to keep going while also supporting mood and cognitive function. Taking a lot of proteins is discouraged for people with kidney diseases, but the latest research suggests that many of us need more high-quality protein, especially as we grow older. You do not have to necessarily eat more animal products. You can eat from a variety of plant-based sources of protein each day and ensure your body gets all the essential protein it requires.
Fats
Joy said that fats are grouped into either good or bad fats, therefore not all fats are the same. Bad fats tend to ruin your diet and increase your risk of getting certain diseases, while good fats tend to protect your brain and heart. Healthy fats such as Omega-3s are an important aspect to your physical and emotional health. Including more healthy fat in your diet can help improve your mood, boost your well-being, and even have a smaller waistline.
Fibers
‘”Eating foods high in dietary fiber (grains, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and beans) actually enables you to stay regular and lower your risk of either getting a heart disease, stroke or diabetes,” Joy said on fiber foods. Foods rich in fibers also improves your skin and even helps you to lose excess weight.
Calcium
From the nutritionist perspective taking foods low in Calcium may lead to osteoporosis. Also not getting enough calcium in your diet often leads to anxiety, depression, and difficulty in sleeping. Despite of ones age or gender, it is important to ensure your diet is rich in calcium. Limit those that deplete calcium and get enough magnesium and vitamins D and K to help calcium work effectively in your body.
Carbohydrates
Joy said that Carbohydrates are one of your body’s main sources of energy. She explains that sources of energy should come from complex, unrefined carbs (vegetables, whole grains, fruit) rather than sugars and refined carbs. Take low or small amounts of refined carbs such as white bread, pastries, starches, and sugar. This will help you prevent rapid spikes in blood sugar, fluctuations in mood and energy, and a build-up of fat, especially around your waistline.
Nutritionist Joy explains that having a healthy diet does not necessarily mean that you have to starve yourself but just take keen care of the foods that your body takes in. Ensure that your meals have rich and healthy nutrients that are necessary for the development of our body. Joy explains that taking care of our body has a lot of future benefits to us especially as we grow old.
