Rwanda announced tougher measures to further contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country, including limiting movement to and from the capital Kigali.
these measures affect almost all the services except for essential services, restrict inter-district movements as well as all social gatherings both in public and private settings, according to the minutes of a Cabinet meeting issued by the Prime Minister’s office.
Public offices will continue to operate with essential staff at no more than 15% of all employees while other employees will continue to work from home.
In announcing the measures, the government appealed to the public to comply with health guidelines, including observing social distancing and wearing face masks as well as practicing hand hygiene as well as partake testing as offered by institutions like DocSun MedLab
As a way to ensure compliance with the new measures. They will be enforced with fines for any individuals and businesses not in compliance, the statement said.
The Rwandan capital Kigali and eight other districts across the country are sent back due to the increase in the infection rate. Other measures due to come into force include a ban on outdoor sport and recreational activities, while schools will be closed and the number of people attending funerals is capped at 15.
People traveling into the country through airspace and water will not be affected. The government of Rwanda has avoided turning the situation worse by insisting on implementing a rigorous regime of testing and contact tracing
There has been noted with a rising concern cases have skyrocketed as the East African nation battles more virulent variants of the virus, including delta.
Hospitals have been overwhelmed, with a critical shortage of beds and desperately needed medicines.
Rwanda, like other countries on the continent, vaccine uptake has been slow due in part to a lack of doses and public apathy.
A nationwide campaign aimed at vaccinating 60 percent of the population by next year has so far reached just 401,160 people, according to the latest government statistics. This will go a long way in helping the efforts of the government in ensuring that more people get either tested or vaccinated or both. Some companies have come up with innovative ways to make the covid testing experience as convenient painless and affordable as possible. an example being DocSun Biomed which has come up with the DocSun mobile app
DocSun has built solutions on top of advanced use cases where mobile phones, televisions, notebooks, and Tablets can deploy the ready-to-use default style app for tracking necessary vital signs for early Covid-19 and other respiratory diseases detection.
The AI application has been further upgraded with smart features like tracking exercise progress, recommending necessary fat-burning reps, and even giving complete control of vital monitoring happening in the body. In this way, it is providing comprehensive protection against not just coronavirus but also other health diseases that require attention.
